yeah...I cant feel much here between them. it would be nice if the mangaka just stopped at just Adachi and Ichikawa being friends and hanging out. this "Man to Man" challenge was pointless. if Adachi was established to be serious like if he confessed to Yamada before all of this but it didnt so why do this??? this would make sense more if Adachi was replaced with Nanjou Paisen guy. at least that guy made enough moves to Yamada to prove his love. but Adachi was just some background character to her and suddenly he proclaims I'll fight for her love in the end when he was all wishy washy with his feelings for other girls especially with Moe. Mangaka just adding drama for the sake of drama I guess...

Also Ichikawas so used to the indirect kiss it makes sense he would do that to Yamada lol.

I agree, the author is just pulling the manga. Plus, their confrontation looked pretty bad. None of them even confessed to Yamada, but they are already fighting for her. Very romantic, yes.

elementary schoolers. If you ask me, this is quite accurate.
Heck in american movies u see this cringy shit as well, and its bot rly about Yamada, is more about their friendship I think.
Not sure if this was an after thought but I think it was good enough for a background story from some kids friendship

Some guys are missing the point on all of this. First of, they are middle schoolers, second, the focus is Ichikawa not Adachi, it's supposed to reflect how Ichikawa cares a lot about his feelings. And third, this is not some drama, this will make Adachi and Ichikawa have a better friendship, which has been building up for a while now, so this event acts as a climax where they recognise each other.
Less hate and more paying attention.

Kyo's internal monologue is spread across multiple pages, which makes it a bit hard to follow:
Haahhh... Why did I say I would do this again...?
Was it for Adachi? Was it because I wanted to wipe the past clean? It wasn't anything so noble. I was just... ... ...
I was just... ... ...
I was just in front of the girl I like
and I wanted to look cool

I wish they had eaten lunch together. They were in a secluded spot and everything...

Personally, though, I didn't like that conclussion. I was expecting Adachi and Ichikawa ended in "bad terms", even as enemies, since Adachi knows by now Ichikawa sabotaged most of his attempts to get close to Yamada.

I assume that's why author let Adachi won this battle, however, while showing that victory was not just a pyrrhic one, but something even worse: totally moot, to a point where even Adachi's mother (HIS OWN MOTHER!!!) was nursing Ichikawa and Yamada and Kanna only having worrying eyes for Kyotaro. A clear contrast between someone who never learn to respect women and someone who learn to comprehend them.

This chapter had so much more going on for it in its segment of the anime. There were so many more references to past things in their 'argument' during the cavalry battle. Kyo's internal monologue is also all at once right after the start of the battle, so it's far more coherent.

Kyo rebuttals Adachi's, "I think you're a good guy, Ichikawa!" with a whole mess of shit about Adachi not knowing him or Anna. Calls out the incident with the friendship chocolate from Moeko to help highlight Adachi's wishywashy way of pursuing girls. Then there's his spiel on Anna being more mature than them, chasing her dreams like she does, praising how amazing he finds her, and calling out shallow reasons to like her.

Most of the rest of the battle continues on like the manga, but still feels so much better composed.

It's a really impactful scene, and I love it. Anime hit it out of the park compared to the manga in this instance.

Sure, the result of the battle itself was ultimately meaningless, but what they say to each other is the significance.

"I'm glad... that it's raining."

I also love how they actually dealt with the aftermath differently, like Anna having her jealous glare while Mrs Adachi is tending to Kyo, or having Moeko drop a towel on Adachi's head before leaving, and only then does Kana show up...

Isnt it funny that when Ichikawa screams he likes Yamada, The boy Yamada as Ichikawa's horse blushes? XD
You mean Adachi's horse? That's not a boy named Yamada, that's Oota- Oota Chikara, who hangs out with Adachi and Kanzaki.

None of the horses are named Yamada, far as I'm aware.
