If the latter, how many people went down with her? And what about the people in the slums? With Marie gone, so will the benefits that were provided to them by her and her allies. Throw in Lafine getting executed and they've lost their clinic as well.

As insane as Lafine is, I doubt that would actually work. Because of her "dream", she probably believes the only way to truly have it abolished is to execute Marie.Bro... the answer is right there!
