I don't think he intended to kill her. Might have actually been a test since normally she's always on guard around him and this is the only time she let her guard down when the two of them were alone. Maybe he wanted to see if she could still react properly after being attacked in such a situation. Still fucked up, but if he wanted to kill her I think he would have already.
