there's nothing wrong with giving a villain a "tragic backstory". it's understandable if you hate a certain trope but calling it bad writing and insulting people who like villains that are "evil not just for the sake of being evil" is plain dumb. it's always about the execution and how the story stages the villain that matters. also i like how they specifically mentioned it being an "asian" problem as if there aren't western attempts at sympathetic villains... lmao. but sure, go ahead and tell everyone how "asian" media needs to get off its high horse about its villains and be more like breaking bad, i'm sure that won't set off a bunch of people.
