@Mitsu13 Sensei is the word for teacher, but calling someone 'X sensei' is a term of respect for learned or accomplished individuals, analagous to how a Ph.D holder can be referred to as "Doctor X" without being a physician in English.

The term doctor is used for anyone with doctoral training (which includes PhD, EdD, MD, among others in the USA). This is why people tend to use the term "physician" to refer to medical doctors at some academic medical centers where there may be a lot of PhDs as well as MDs.

Screw this reader man. I know it's a free service, but that doesn't mean I have to like the change.

Well, considering PhD stands for Doctor of Philosophy... (check yourself by looking up the phrase), and every other *D is another type of Doctorate... yeah.
