You can believe his story or not , donate or read his work for free but don't insult him or his sick mom . That's shameful . He doesn't force you to donate . @TheLastShow sure that is true, but if it is a lie that his mom is sick, he is simply trying to play on peoples feelings for money and that is wrong whether she is sick or not. The appreciation of ones work should be enough for a person to be willing to support them. His work is very good, I don't see why he cannot do this professionally from home to earn a pay cheque. If he was afraid of having a boss, deadlines, pressure and the like then I'm sure he could do it part time for a company. I am not exactly sure how it is done professionally, but it is obvious he has the necessary skills as I can't think of any grammatical errors. With all the mangas I read that are not done by him I will constantly see mistakes in spelling and grammar that should be easy to pick out from a read through.

In the end what matters is that you tried to help them and that tiny kindness may go back to you in return - either in your future endeavors or even the day after.
As always, be kind to others, just like how you want them to be kind to you.
If they lie, though, it's their business with their God/Buddha/satan. Not our business.

Well I don't know what Kirei went through with his life but the footnote feels like he's forcing us to donate and lets us feel ashamed that most readers are not donating when he's doing a good job at translating and because his mom is sick.

I donated a few weeks ago. I don't know if what is claimed is true, or not. What I know is, I want to read this manga, and he is translating it. If I donate, he's more likely to keep translating it, and that's what I want. I don't need to know anything else.

Story Related: Caph is too cute. Every character in this series is cute, but Caph's tsundere-ditzy personality is just my kind of girl.

Kirei Cake's Donate Related: I think it's fine if the scanlator asks for financial help. The mangaka spends days writing/drawing the manga. The scanlator (either individually or with a group) buys that manga, spends however many hours scanning/translating/redrawing/typesetting the manga and we, the English speaking masses, spend a couple minutes reading it and move on. Honestly, instead of giving him shit, we should be thankful and grateful that we can even consume this awesome piece of work, for free even. Whether or not using his mom to take advantage of our "feelings" is wrong or not, what effect does that really have on you? For me, I could give a rats ass about other people's troubles unless it's about me, my family, or my closest friends. However, I enjoy this series and if it takes a dollar or two to get more/faster chapters I'm fine with that, regardless of how it's presented to me. I live and work in a big city. I interact with shameless, homeless beggars everyday. You know what the difference is? At least I get a nice manga chapter to read if I do end up donating to a scanlator. If the scanlator decides to get greedy and ask for more money or hold the series at ransom, well that's too bad. There goes a manga I can't read anymore. It's not the biggest deal in the world.
Unfortunately our money doesn't go to the mangaka, but chances are our money wouldn't have gone to the mangaka in the first place had a scanlator not taken the time to scanlate a piece of work. We are enjoying a luxury so don't give the people who give us this luxury any shit about it.

TLDR? Caph is cute. Thank you Kirei Cake for scanlating another chapter of this awesome manga.

@encoreblade Why should the scanlator be profiting off the mangaka's work? All they're doing is literally putting translated words on an image. I understand the need to pay for raws but this psycho is trying to pay off the the treatment for whatever imaginary "illness" his mom needs. Hell he even says himself he wants to make it a full time job thing. I'll bet you %100 that mangaka is not ok with some loser enriching himself across the globe from the mangaka's intellectual property.
