"Blue metal" threw me off. So I went looking at the raw expecting the kanji for "blue" and "metal", which would have meant "lead", but no. It was actually katakana (ブルーメタル) and now I'm confused.

Don't try to read it, translate in your head "MC said some normal shit and otherworld backwards people that should already know this shit are amazed to the point of worship".

Every time in these stories MC builds a town and everyone acts like nobody has built a town in the world before, even though there's obviously large citys and stuff.

@ Page 11: Did he originally intend to build the water wheel just as decoration? Why is everyone treating this as some grand idea?
Assuming the authour has a plan,
I would expect it was originally going to be just for indusrty and threshing wheat and is now going to be used for dynamo's and power generation.

I'm not sure what they're talking about either, but I'm guessing that the idea is that the wheel doesn't have to be right next to the the river? I mean, the water can be run through pipes and aqueducts and power the wheel elsewhere.

You're forgetting the bit where the MC in these cases also has the detailed knowledge of several engineers worth, even though having been a mere salaryman or highschool student.

It's amazing how much one can pick up by the end of high school, especially compared with a culture that hasn't invented gunpowder yet.

There may be other unknown continents beyond the oceans. Germ theory and personal hygiene. Soap ("Doctor Stone"). Public sanitation (sewage and safe drinking water infrastructure should be a primary element of the town planning, along with security considerations). Float glass (a process that might become a secret of a premium trade good). Distillation of alcohol for shipping and trade or as fuel or as disinfectant. The Rocket Stove (which greatly reduces smoke while making wood heat much more efficient). Paper making and a rational filing system for records. Glass lenses and telescopes for astronomical, meterological, civil engineering, and military applications. The potato, if it or an equivalent can be found. Crop rotation (often used in these isekai stories). Dietary balance, nutrition, and vitamin C (strategically important for a maritime power, since it can allow miserable sailors to maintain a blockade for months). Widespread or universal literacy for communications and to help tap the potential of talent among commoners. Trigonometry and cartography for accurate maps. Astronomy and the nature of planets and stars, which may help with celestial navigation. The significance of a stable monetary system. The need for a professional civil service. There are many lessons that come from a knowledge of national history and world history at a public school/high school level that can help establish a strong and peaceful country.

Oh yes... End of highschool you'd have heard OF all those things, and probably have a decent shot at understanding the basic principles of them... if you didn't sleep through class, etc.

Germ theory may well work different in a different world, especially with magic. ymmv.
Soap... which fats/oils, which concentration of lye, how do you get sodium hydroxide from raw sources to begin with?
How does sewage treatment actually work, besides sewer,tank,..., Profit!!
Glass.. to begin with... which sand(s) , where to you get your bicarbonate from? Do you actually know how to build an oven that can reach the temperatures needed at scale?
Crop rotation... Which actual crops are involved? Do these crops ( and the principles behind why the rotation works.. ) even exist in this world?

The devil is in the actual details... ( which is why we have...specialists in Things, and College beyond Highschool...)
How much of all that did you know when you came, wet-eared and Ego Forward, out of highschool?
How much do you remember of the pretty useless shyte you Had To Know for your Highschool exam 10, 20, 30 years later?

Almost everything you mentioned people already had in the Stone Age, everything after that is mere refinement..
They weren't St00pid. Quite likely less stoopid than the average Highschooler nowadays.. Something about hard knock life and the need to Git Gud at things to survive. Quite often already at Primary/Middle School age.

There are many lessons that come from a knowledge of national history and world history at a public school/high school level that can help establish a strong and peaceful country.
Is the biggest corker, though...
If you believe that I've got this bridge in a prime development location.... Perfect investment opportunity at high future yields.. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I'm sorry that you learned so little in high school. You were robbed.
