I'm dating myself here, but I played Zork back in the day, on an Apple IIe. We're talking actual green text on the monitor. Putting all that aside, I think that if the original word was "Zooku" then the transliteration to "Zork" should be the preference. Substituting "Zerg" for "Zork" just to cater to its familiarity to a certain demographic seems odd. You could make an argument that you could substitute "Hyakki Yako" as in Japanese folklore this is when thousands of oni and yokai burst into the real world and parade/riot through the streets of Japan. Or hell, you could go with the English equivalent of "pandemonium" as you can reference the original meaning of "all demons" and the more modern definition of a chaotic or riotous scene.
