Went 'out-of-line' would be a understatement. The first thing he does after release is breaking the rules, underestimating his superior, kill a fellow yakuza, steal business, conduct forbidden racketeering, buy firearms and all of this amounts to heat that the modern yakuza 110% do not want. Basically in a short span of time he broke almost every rule so dying the way he did after being consoled and then quickly executed is basically a mercy. If it was anyone else, I assume he would've been sentenced to torture and worse.
