Considering the furore over the Unit 731 reference in My Hero Academia, I'm surprised that this was approved for serialization. Hope its not a whitewashing of war crimes type of manga

Seems interesting, they are actually hunting the remnants of them, there might be scientists still around for shooting too but probably for the wrong reason ordered by the higher ups (trying to sell info to some other nation) as the unit were pardoned by US.

Basically the name of an evil scientist character happened to be a reference to these Unit 731 experiments. Horikoshi and publisher claimed they weren't referencing anything, but it still pissed off the Chinese and the twitter mob so Horikoshi had to quickly rewrite it.

Another series where the entire store revolves around a character with a lot of potential for development, conflict, and pathos, only for the author to chicken out and insert an incredibly boring different character as protag who will probably remain completely static for the rest of the story for the sake of being "relatable."

Not to mention the scan group using a nazi symbol as their logo lmao, did you forget to grow up after middle school?

they do all the obscure war mangas that nobody else picks up because of the sharp edges. a necessary evil if you like war stories in manga format, because litterally nobody else digs up manga corpses like them.

as for the mc... he's the same cut as Saichi Sugimoto. Chaotic good, badass and suicidal. maybe a little less homoerotic, but still, i dont think that's a boring protag by any means.

the author is a post/prewar car and guns nerd, that's an automatic yes for me, lol. Just surprised to see a citroen traction avant in japan. these would've MAYBE been imported by 1939 to vietnam, then captured and sent to japan.. still exotic as fuck lol.
the lancia aprilia could have been imported during the war as italy had an embassy in tokyo till the late stages of the italian campaign.

Sugimoto was much more interesting and well considered, though his arc did end up being peppered in rather lightly between a lot of plot and action.

As for this manga, the author would have to pull nothing short of a miracle to make me feel a single thing about the mc. Not blank enough to be a blank slate, not developed enough to be a real person. He occupies a horrible, deadly dull middle position of absolute worthlessness.
