I think I just hope Actual Consequences happen to the weird-haircut dude who's supposedly the prince's aide, but is also clearly helping Lapis with this anti-commoner massacre plan...seemingly against the wishes of the prince he purports to hold in very high esteem (if I remember earlier chapters correctly)
As on-point and aware as the prince is...does he just, not know that his aide is doing all this?

Anyway he also just has the whole design/feel/attitude of a smarmy little punk who checks all those mental boxes of "you need to actually be removed by the end of the story" like almost no one else in the narrative up to this point does.
Just a 'me' thing, but he remains an entirely unsavory aspect of this manga, as necessary as he is for the plot - mostly because I fear he'll just get a slap on the wrist or something since I don't know if this manga's tone matches him getting The Sword like I expect he deserves.

Thanks for the chapter.

Another great chapter. Diana giving a good pep talk (as always she's been a great friend and supportive ally) and Natori willing to try and dig into Lapis' heart once again despite the "rejection." She doesn't realize that being pushed away is because she is one of the things Lapis cherishes now. I'm sure she'll figure it out though soon.

Inthe meantime it's off to learn about Lapis' history. Finally. Feels like the plot started revving back up again in recent chapters and now we're into the thick of it. I don't mind the quidditch arc since we got Allie out of it and her relationship with Diana but beyond being an introduction to their dynamics together it didn't do much I'll miss.

Although it's interesting you write that, because isn't that literally what Diana is arguing for and Natori going with this very chapter? I don't know for sure if the author is doing a purposeful light/dark contrast of the same concept here, but it's neat either way and the sort of refreshing complexity and realism that has made this story a cut above the typical. It'd have been easy to just have a simple indulgence in some sort of "a truly devoted person should think for who they care about not just listen to what they say" trope, but this helps illustrate how there are no actual simple hard & fast rules in human relationships. Anything can be taken too far, "do what you think is actually best for them vs what they say" only works if you actually get it right, and have a healthy dose of luck. Like yeah he's going against the wishes of the prince, but it's not because of malice it's because he really does seem to believe that's best for the prince and the country. That's the dark side of that path.

So it'll be interesting to see how this actually all plays out. The natural assumption is that it'll be a trial but in the end they'll help Lapis see the light, but certainly feels like it could go grayer at this point too. I don't think it'll be grimderp, but there's a variety of possible endings of the bittersweet variety that wouldn't be unnatural either, though neither would it be at all wrong if it does end up in a pretty purely good place. It's fun to have so many possible paths forward.

If it's as has been implied, that Lapis is actually a kid from the orphanage and then raised to replace the sister, you'd think that the family would bury all and any evidence that this occurred?
Additionally, I somehow have doubts that whatever backstory we get, the reasons Lapis reached the conclusion that is her hare brained plan won't be satisfactory.

If you reread the very first few chapters of the manga Lapis talks about how easy it is to manipulate a commoner just by being a little nice to them. Makes me wonder if she was talking about her own experience getting pulled out of an orphanage.

Diana: "If I have to, I'll cut straight through Lady Lapis' wicked desires!"
Natori: "N-no, let's try to solve this peacefully --"
Diana: "A fine idea! But you know it's not gonna happen, right?"
Natori: "... oh dear."

Nice chapter for what is essentially an interlude, the calm before the storm of the next story arc. I'm still not convinced by the "Lapis is Aurora" angle that the story seems to be going, but well, I trust Nekotarou to be able to pull it off.

Especially after seeing the raws for chapter 31. That got dark

Good to see that Alexandra left a mark on Diana so at least the romance angle seems to be advancing smoothly.

The RAW literally drop "Lapis IS Aurora" how are you even questioning if you've seen the RAW?
