Oh that's a way to go about it, altho it's more slow them down, buy more time to change villainess views and all that, could definitely try quelling the rebellion and working to make the p e a s a n t s more happy, to lessen rebellion and get more time to pull villainess out the dark side

Although it's interesting you write that, because isn't that literally what Diana is arguing for and Natori going with this very chapter? I don't know for sure if the author is doing a purposeful light/dark contrast of the same concept here, but it's neat either way and the sort of refreshing complexity and realism that has made this story a cut above the typical. It'd have been easy to just have a simple indulgence in some sort of "a truly devoted person should think for who they care about not just listen to what they say" trope, but this helps illustrate how there are no actual simple hard & fast rules in human relationships. Anything can be taken too far, "do what you think is actually best for them vs what they say" only works if you actually get it right, and have a healthy dose of luck. Like yeah he's going against the wishes of the prince, but it's not because of malice it's because he really does seem to believe that's best for the prince and the country. That's the dark side of that path.

So it'll be interesting to see how this actually all plays out. The natural assumption is that it'll be a trial but in the end they'll help Lapis see the light, but certainly feels like it could go grayer at this point too. I don't think it'll be grimderp, but there's a variety of possible endings of the bittersweet variety that wouldn't be unnatural either, though neither would it be at all wrong if it does end up in a pretty purely good place. It's fun to have so many possible paths forward.

Thats an interesting view and comparison tbh. The same act plays differently when the characters switch sides.
However, regarding an absolute (or simpler) compass for right and wrong, what both diana/natori and that guy r wrong about is imposing ur view of whats right on other ppl when they clearly told u off and told u to let them do their own thing and not interfere. (If anything, its how we get anti-lgbt ppl troubling lgbt folks rather than minding their own business, especially relatives/family, friends, neighbors or whoever is close... and many other examples but i mentioned lgbt since this is the implied theme of the comic). If she wants to protect the anti-noble faction for the sake of protecting them or wtv personal reason, thats fine but if its just to impose her will and view on Lapis then she's in the wrong.
