Well, glad to see that confirmed. I was afraid they might do a crazy twist just to prevent people from figuring it out. But the true meat is in the context and ngl, that's kinda sad.News from the RAW.
It'sI need to vent.
Context: By now Natori group learned that the Lapis they know is actually Aurora, the adopted sister.
(there's also implication she's the saintess, but for now sadge part)
Natori went to meet Lapis's father, show him Aurora's magic stone and ask to hear about what happened that fateful day.
The attack that kill Real Lapis on the surface was done by anti-noble group.
But there's clearly some other noble's hand assisting them.
Either way.
Real Lapis and Mom died.
When Dad arrive with help only Aurora was alive, crying for someone to help Lapis.
At the funeral, the priest ask if Dad is sure about not releasing the news about the attack.
Dad counter back with 'and let them know their attack was a great success?'
He then comment that at least Lapis seem to have passed without suffering much.
Then the priest points out there's traces of incomplete healing magic being used.
While it healed the surface wound, it didn't heal the internal injuries, so her real cause of death was blood loss after taking out the dagger that initially stabbed her.
Aurora was nearby, listening, and realized her failed healing magic was why Lapis died.
Dad notice Aurora running away, and caught up with her
He try to console her, and upon noticing she's holding onto Lapis's magic stone, ask for it back.
Aurora refuse, and the magic stone react to her mana, surprising Dad.
Aurora then propose that she will live as Lapis, because she doesn't want Lapis to disappear.
After a moment, Dad hug her and call her Lapis, she call him Dad back.
Back to present. Dad lament how that decision seem to have become something of a curse to her now, and wonder if his decision was the best one.
Natori replies in tears that there's none. After losing someone important, there's no such thing as 'best choice'
Dad tell Natori that there must be a reason Lapis's magic stone summoned her, and ask that Natori give Aurora back her life.

No, I meant convert Diana's feelings over to just accepting that they only can have a sisterly relationship where Natori is taking care of her as the elder and that's all they'll ever have. (For one, Natori's such a failgirl that she's the one being taken care of for most of the series.)Natori is just nice; it's always been one sided so there's nothing really to convert or alter.
I dislike this manga more each chapter after realizing the main couple is a pedophile and a fascist oligarch.
it feels like I'm reading propaganda...
hope that changes.
So you'd rather she be in denial for the entire series? She has to accept that her feelings aren't going anywhere. Also, Diana is taken care of by Natori just as much, which was part of Allie's point. The allure of Natori is her ability to be naturally caring and providing space for others to freely share their stories and be themselves. That's exactly how Natori helped Diana. No, I meant convert Diana's feelings over to just accepting that they only can have a sisterly relationship where Natori is taking care of her as the elder and that's all they'll ever have. I'm going to prepare some tissues till the end of the story. This gonna be a good ride.News from the RAW.
