I don't think it's the husband, you'll see more later but he definitely loves her, just he's stoic and doesn't let his emotions be shown as easily,on the brother's words, yeah the flashback with the queen when she was telling the FL that she was lucky means so much as,she had the one thing she couldn't have easily and even among her death was atleast glad to bring a child into the world, man doesn't make the fl look any less good,I know people here love to defend her but before her reincarnation, she was a terrible mother and deserved no sympathy for the son's reaction on her deathbed.

Also she survived the final pregnancy,I bet she'd have literally taken the son under her wing and probably ring her sister in more for being shittey.

your thought process seems pretty plausible..
here's my theory
from what we can see, the Marquis has already lost one of his sisters. I do not believe he would place himself over Erscella any day of the year. with respective ranks of duke and maquis, the instigator should've been close. not an outside threat but someone close. we saw that the husband cherished her but that synopsis makes him kinda sus. And this chapter, his talk with her brother as well. but there's not just one duke family in this setting. and the Visaride family's political influence seems closer to royalty than the dukedom. A sister who's a queen(was), another who's the duchess, and a Marquis with ties to the imperial palace. Maybe the duke was the instigator? but it's still too early to say anything

I'm not sure what the Duke feels for ercella because in all their scenes together he gets this random sus shade, but it does feel like he cares, in some way or another, since he warned the chamberlain to be careful.

oh... i forgot about the elder sister!
and yeah it's too early to tell.
It has to be someone close like you said but I'm thinking unless if it turns out to be the son (as in, his innermost desire for love from his mom became corrupted over the years), the true instigator or villain perhaps hasn't shown their ugly head yet.
It could also be the eldest sister husband and it was partially motivated by his dead wife's wish that her sister's neglected child was hers.
Yeah, it's too early to tell.

OK so after this convo with the husband and the brother i'm starting to think the husband knew about the poisoning and just didn't do anything, but wasn't the one who did it. Using someone else's hands if you will
Many thanks

@kowoyoshi yes she was a bad mother but later on the story you will find out why she abandoned her son. Remember she got pregnant at the age of 16 later on have him at 17 so she was at shock at that time and doesn't know how to handle the situation in that certain age cause it was an "unplanned pregnancy" imagine in that age already having a baby not a lot of young parents can accept it. Plus she started neglecting him when he was 5 years old when she turned 22 in the second or third chapter i forgot she mentioned she missed out a lot when she was young cause she has to take care of him because her only reason was because she miss partying with her friends like im like YO girl she has to take responsibility because she has a kid. That is why at first I didnt like the FL but then she regretted it after she died so since she was given another chance I hope to see it for myself how much she changed and I understand how she feels cause my mother irl got pregnant in a young age but she didn't neglect my older sister and there are some young teens who neglects their child and left their babies to their grandparents. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

SPOILER: I read the raws if u are not interested ignore this.

So i read the raws that she suffered from stress and depression during her pregnancy and she was treated like an item during her 9 months term because her father died, her husband father died (the father in law) as well and her husband neglected her cause he got busy since he got the title as a duke in the young age of 19 idk if they are in the same age maybe he his either 17,18, or 19 idk it says nothing the husband age is. She got really homesick she wants to go home to her family imagine 16 and pregnant living away from family she got depression from it. Then people like the servants in the house treated her like an item because of the next successor in her womb is to be strong and healthy the FL doesnt wanna be treated like a thing because she is a very intelligent woman no one really cared about her feelings only the baby in the womb that is why she neglected her son maybe that is the one reason . Her depression got worse over the time and after she had him she thought that she would be free from the suffering cause she delivered the child of the house healthy it doesn't end that way yet. Everything in the house hold got pretty much turned upside down cause only teens managing the house and the manor a man approached FL that she is just a tool to give birth to a successor then everything went really dark during her pregnancy term. In real life she would probably have a miscarriage because of the stress happening all those flashbacks from the past since their marriage was only political and everything happened so fast but I know the husband loved her cause the first time they met it was love at first sight for him and he really cared for her. We yet to find out who actually killed her cause there were many enemies at that time when she was still pregnant with her son and as soon as his husband got the title he killed the man saying bad things to her wife in front of her while she was in full term pregnancy and yeah her husband started to ignore her after that cause he was really busy being the duke and successor of the house hold. So yeah I feel really sorry for the FL she went through a lot

Wild theory of mine but Ercella's sister, the Queen left behind a son. Meaning that Ercella's nephew is probably the Crown Prince. He hasn't been introduced yet but isn't it possible that he might have poisoned Ercella because she wasn't a good mother and his mother, the Queen was always jealous (not evil jealous) that she was able to give birth? Like, the Crown Prince might have took it as an insult that Ercella isn't a good mother to her son and whereas the Crown Prince wished he had a living mother. Idk I think its to early to point fingers to the Duke or son because I think the series has yet to introduce other important characters

Sadly no, her sister didn't leave behind a son. She got miscarriaged 3 times on her 3rd miscarriage she died. She never had children during her time she was alive she spend a lot of time with her nephew as if it was her own son and she really loved her sister Ercella. They only have each other and she was the only person who can talk to Ercella during her depression since she experienced trauma during her pregnancy. Her father died, her fathet in law died. In the young age of 17 both her and her young husband took the title and role as the duke so she was ignored at that time only her older sister the queen was her mental health supporter.

The queen never had a child it said in the chapter the Queen is known to wanting to have children but sadly she can't. The son you mean is Ercella's son her nephew since she raised him only for awhile while Ercella neglected her own son. It's like in real life situation if a young teen cant raise her own child she let her parents take care of the child.

it literally said this chapter “after three miscarriages, she gave birth to a prince and died, leaving behind the child she wanted so much”

I really hope the villain isnt related to her family. If they killed her because her sister died and fl could have a baby and was "ungrateful" that would be stupid.

Did everyone forget the scene in the noble council where a guy wants to have his own private army but FL's bro is like lol no?? Theres clearly tension right there between the royal family (and therefore fl's family, since shes apart of the empress family) and other nobles. Im not sure why you guys think it has to be the emperor or the crown prince who made FL sick.

I feel bad for her brother, Imagine loosing your beloved siblings (am only assuming the beloved siblings part since I’ve noticed from the interactions and hints ig) and being left alone
