Joked last chapter about the bechdel test, but they couldn't do it here. The denouement ended with talk of their relationship to the MC. I mean, hooray nudity!

Nah, the cloud didn't hide much buttock. Plenty of other panels had full butt cheek. This was cloud censored butthole and vagina.
And yet, they gave us uncensored hippo butthole.

 What's the story so far, again? Something about that old dude being a mold monster of sorts?
Well, the background worldbuilding stuff we’ve been given so far is that there are a variety of different magic systems.

-Primordial magic that was used in the far past before largely disappearing, although the Shaman character has been shown using it.

-Alchemy is an artificial recreation of magic and is split into three fields: The creation of life (magic familiars), the creation of magical artifacts (like the veils/glasses worn by the sisters), and finally the ability to manipulate magic materials through transmutation. People who can do all three things are classified as Master Alchemists. The guy who taught Rust (the MC) has found evidence that Alchemy seems to have been derived from the study of Primordial Magic at some point in the distant past.

-There are also Divine powers given to clerics by deities, like the abilities that Taula can use.

The story starts off with Rust, the MC, finding out that the department he had been in charge of (the Basic Research Department) at the main Alchemist headquarters for the country had lost all of its budget and was essentially removed. The guy in charge had decided to focus on weapon development instead of broader research.

Rust takes that as an opportunity to quit (having become fed up with dealing with the issues at the Alchemy Association) and accepts an offer sent to him by a friend from school named Kalin.

Kalin had been made a noble due to her actions during a war and so was granted a chunk of inhospitable territory to go settle. She wanted Rust to go along to help.

As Rust is traveling there, he manages to save Taula after she had been dying from a poison and curse that had been put on her by the Shaman after her home was destroyed. Rust also saved a strange white lizard from a magic beast.

While Rust was helping solve issues Kalin had, the Alchemist Association began falling apart due to the fact that Rust had managed a lot of the more mundane stuff (like making sure dangerous materials were properly stored). And after a bunch of the magic weapons were damaged, Rizalham (a Master Alchemist who had really disliked Rust) was sent to try to bring Rust back.

But Rizalham instead tried to kill Rust, and after he failed he ran away. As he was headed back home, the Shaman appeared and revealed that HE had been responsible for the orders for the weapons and was unhappy that it got screwed up.

Partly as a means of revenge against Rizalham as well as to experiment, the Shaman implanted something inside of Rizalham that made him turn into a Demon. And since Rizalham had speculated with fungus as an Alchemist, he became something like a fungus when he became a Demon.

Massive, massive respect for taking the time to summarize the story for me.

I think this is the part I need to remember on. Thanks again!
