The fact that she didn't chase the maid with the budha statue is the sign of arrogant and idiot people... I mean, what did she think would happen if the owner of the place were to come back, seeing the place already been ransack and her daugther is there, lying on the floor? Let's say the idiot and her maid were to go away before the mother arrive, there are witnesses. And even if those witnesses were to stay quiet, the place condition already warrant a "thief search" and people will be asked question for whether they see anything. The implication is just so big that it would be wise to contain the problem to only the courtyard...

I... I just don't know what give confidence to this idiot to actually dare to do this... If she were smart, the best thing is to actually NOT let anyone know of the situation AND don't leave traces in the crime scene

@anzuda well to be perfectly honest.. the ancient people dont really smart, but they have authority to flaunt by. so in a sense if your rank/authority is higher than the other people beside you, nobody dares to do anything even if you're in the wrong..

Honestly, even with this, that all went much better than it should have with a five-year-old's strength and weight.

Also, the comically-evil-concubine-lady has really lost sight of the big picture if she's seriously thinking of murder here.

@NARKist I get what you are saying, but i don't believe that they are this naif. No matter what, our MC mother is the wife. If she have no power in the court then maybe, but from the few chapter we have seen, she still have some power in the estate even if not shown blantantly. Not only that, there is also prince Yun who backed her. Isn't that the reason why even though she is not favored, nothing big is happening to MC Mother? And isn't that also the reason why this concubine mei went to ransack the place when the mother were out? She could silence the maid but not the mom.

The very fact that they are againts each other but still giving something for her opponent to exploit is just... Did she thinks that she could just clean it up by saying "That maid tried to steal the statue and i was trying to prevent it when this child tried to kill me instead"? Unless the Prince also an Idiot or decide to choose sides, i doubt she could get out of this without a scratch. Especially since previously, the maid said that the MC mother is with the Old Madam. What would happen if the Old Madam decide to follow to know what happen? Will she said that "The statue is my gift to the old madam, but she decide to send her maid to steal from the estate so she could gift it to Old Madam"?
... Wait, that might be to smart to say for her.

All in all, i still think that leaving the maid to call the madam while bringing the statue is just too idiotic of a move for someone who are ment to prevent the Lin Estate to side with Yong Ning, The MC Mother. ... But then again, this "Concubine Mei" is a former prostitute who got recruited to just do that, nothing more...

8 chapters in and we're still in the very very VERY initial steps of setting up... siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. I feel like the novel would've covered all this, AND the conclusion in 3 chapters.

Ps. Yeah, nothing wrong with the peace, it's been pretty good, the chapters doesn't have that many pages anyway. I prefer a good story with many chapters rather than a short and rushed one.
