Probably at some point in the original that wasn't even adapted here, I guess? It was certainly supposed to be temporary but our only indication before now that it was gone was that he knew anything about his family's cultivation methods, so I guess the "Aha!" moment was skipped. Maybe he remembered everything before even getting bitten by that tiger? He seemed to know how to fight again there instead of making his "little brother" protect him.
