Well, she does still have her divine power or whatever unsealed at the moment but I'm not sure she can kill Lord Hell at the moment just because of that. He seems like the sort of big cheeze she still needs to train a bit to match in power. She was captured by his subordinates and all, and it's not like she's said anything along the lines of "I let them take me so I could see what's going on." Escaping given the right opportunity might not be impossible, but the staying for her own advantage thing does seem like part of this too. Dem herbs.

To be fair, none of their alchemists seem even remotely capable. She could just use a slow-acting poison. Lord Hell seems like a moron too. Yes, let's kidnap people to develop life-saving medicine. No way they would just kill the person to retaliate, right?

@EOTFOFYL Sure. But kidnap enough people, and eventually someone won't care about anything but revenge. If the person in need of medicine is high profile, like an elder, they won't care if they die too. It's actually pretty normal in these cultivation series; "If I die, I'm taking you with me!" Even happened in this series, with a Xu family elder. Also, since they kidnapped enough people to fill the whole Medicine Tower, at least a few must have tried. Which makes Lord Hell even more moronic for not even trying to invite them, before resorting to abduction.

I'm pretty sure someone capable, like MC, could even make it seem like an accident. Like, weaken them just before a battle, or something. Or disrupt their cultivation so they get crippled when breaking through to the next level. Could even be long-term, like giving an immortal cultivator a mortal lifespan. When it's done, too late to do something about it. Can't even be sure who did it, so long after the fact.

Just saying for someone who should be pretty intelligent, what with being the Lord of a huge cult/sect, he uses some very dumb methods of recruitment.

It won't matter when you punish all the alchemist regardless of innocence, which may prompt others to rat out the would-be assassin. We know some of the kidnapped alchemist have already settled in and so, have little reason to lose that benefit. And nothing is stopping people from examining and testing the product before usage. Also it appears that some of the alchemists did retaliate somehow according to the previous chapter but were put down, no details on that though.

Also I doubt they know much about her. Likely all they know her reputation as the Ghost Doctor and what they saw in the tournament so that's not much to work on; the aide definitely sees her as another typical alchemist but with an attitude. The casual nature of the guards there suggest that they believe she's been rendered harmless, doesn't seem like they have special instructions. Only the lord seems to be cautious based on his warning but that's not much to work on.

@EOTFOFYL That's my point though. Some just won't care about the carrot, so will just invoke the stick on everyone out of spite. If they're capable enough, like MC probably is, no amount of testing would prevent it. There's plenty of tasteless, colorless, slow-acting poisons in media. They're in a world of magic, pretty sure there's undetectable poisons too. Mix a poison that's short-term beneficial, but long-term harmful, and you're golden. And if it already happened and was dealt with, what's to stop it from happening again with new recruits? Are they just gonna crack down harder, thus making it more likely to happen eventually? Are they just gonna offer more carrots? Some will have such resentment from that first offense, being kidnapped, that no amount of 'benefits' will sway them.

And it doesn't matter whether they know the capabilities of MC. Lord Hell should be intelligent enough to know it's possible, and that kidnapping people doesn't exactly inspire trust. Being 'cautious' won't help when your only doctors might hate you.

See! See! Cold poison! He's the same as Uncle! I'm saying, back in chapter... -goes to look- Nine! Ch. 9 was a New Year special or something, Uncle came around a corner, took off a mask, and became white-haired-bishie!

I agree. I think it's the uncle. He could have asked instead of going through all this...but whatever.
