Doesn't looks like her mother was the one bashing her face in and not feeding her, at the same time she treats the kid like garbage and a money sucker at her debut and now says she cared about her...what the fuck?
Only explanations that come to mind are that she got together with some new guy that kicked and punched the daughter and let it happen because the new guy was more important than her flesh and blood, or her father healed from the injuries but after being abandoned by the mother, and unleashed his rage about it on their daughter.
The reaction on meeting her too makes me think that.
Don't understad why she wasn't legally registered, almost sure that is a crime.
Why would the mother have a personal diary about them that is loving but not register her with the state?

All this makes me believe the author started pulling ideas out of their ass inspired by TV drama and without doublechecking not even 100 pages of material they themselves created.
