@JWChibi JiuQing ran over to where they were when she heard that Wan'Er and her mother were out, if you look in the last chapter. I don't think her friend was close enough. Also the other person (presumably planted) said otherwise, so she might doubt herself, as she's left behind and doesn't show up in the crowd shot. However, I think her friend, given that she doesn't trust Wan'Er and Yao QianQian, would definitely support her. (Ah, to be clear, I work on this series, but I'm the last one to see the chapters, so I have as much idea at this point as y'all do.)

@WanderingKaos No, she totally was meant to be married to that man. They are two peas in a pod. What you should say is our MC and her mother don't deserve to be stuck in that family. If I was her I'd use the excuse of her daughters exile to leave with her. She has no power to protect herself when her husband keeps voiding all authority in the inner court that the main wife should have. If the MC leave without her Mom she might get poisoned or some other awful thing. The woman is stupidly defenseless despite being repeatedly warned. I mean first she follows her sister to the water to almost get pushed in and now she follows her sister to the top of a staircase. WTF? Just stand your ground lady, don't be so easily led like a lamb to a slaughter.
