Mr. Principal is such a weird plot device noncharacter, I'd like to flesh him out some.

Let's say he's nearing retirement age, in his early 60's. He studied abroad in the States in the early 90s at UCLA. There he had a whirlwind romance with the non-union equivalent of Daryl Hannah. He grew to like the pop culture side of Western Music- Madonna, Patrick Swayze's ass, Cyndi Lauper. And now that he's close to retiring, he's professionally untouchable. Can't fire a man with nothing to lose! So by hook or by crook, he's going to relive his joyous youth vicariously, by pushing all the work on Narita! Let's get some teenagers to hook up!

This is such a swerve I really don't know how I feel about it. The principal character in particular, while well executed, seems like such a jarring change of pace from the more sober "adults" we've seen thus far.

Lmao this might be the most contrived bit yet, but I don’t mind tbh. Plus it’s full circle to the prom art. Oh god does that mean more art is going to be canon eventually…….

Narita going above and beyond in his self-appointed duties as Cupid, love it. I wonder what he'll chose as the theme for Prom :dogkek:

I don't even know what it would be about but I want a Narita spin-off now after this chapter.
Full-time job at a matchmaking agency, but with insane hijinks and secret plans?

Holy shit I would read the hell out of that!

This does feel like some of the weakest writing so far, but it's clearly just to allow for a later scene that is going to be fantastic.

It's interesting to think that the author is clearly a...whatever the reverse term would be for 'weeb'. A Japanese person obsessed with American pop culture.

And you know, looking at it from this perspective, it's not bad at all. It's hard to realize while living in the middle of it, but there certainly are some things about American culture that are interesting (in a positive way) from the outside.
