Also, this comparison is lacking. Though maybe that's the problem the author has as well: thinking them getting together is the destination, the end of the story. It's not. It's the start.
I think “it’s a part” is a better way of seeing it. This is more “slice of life” than anything, and doesn’t really have standard “story structure”. It could run on indefinitely with just… shit happening.

A lot of my favorite media is just a bunch of stuff that happens in order, then it stops at a certain point. Works best for drama and comedy.
or they get to the climax and stop, because it made it’s point.
3-act structure is basic.

At the moment I still think that I couldn't care less about her, let's see how the story progress and if she will be an obstacle in the relationship between Aya and Koga or a chara that will help them grow :korone:

Why the sass and salt?
Nothing is above criticism, people are entitled to their opinion, and The Odyssey this ain’t!
It's not really salt, just amusement that people think stories should be incredibly straightforward and have no twists or obstacles or whatnot. It happens a lot with romance stories, where people demand superficial, sweet fluff and feel that any detours somehow risk the relationship they stan.

Like...authors (almost always) have a plan. They know where they're going to get to. They know what developments they want to show ahead of that. They find ways to cause those developments to occur with plot points. They're not risking the sanctity of the relationship. It's not a game they might lose, it's a narrative they're constructing.

I just feel that if you respect an author and their work, let them show you what they want to show you. Of course, if you don't respect them or their work, that's another matter, but generally these comments are from people who do feel attached.

Ah, so it’s just arrogance.

I just think comparing this to the fucking odyssey is extremely stupid, you weirdo.
I wasn't comparing the stories at all. I was illustrating how readers are reacting, using a commonly known frame of reference. I could use any long story as an example there.

If you thought I was saying, "this story is just like the Odyssey", then no wonder you have an issue with so much I post--clearly you aren't comprehending my words at all.

Ok I guess I should explain myself better then. I think comparing this to the odyssey or any other long story is stupid because they’re finished so the length is forgivable because you don’t have to wait so long for literally any progress since you can read the odyssey all at once.
But because this is unfinished and released weekly if there isn’t a break and only has 4 page chapters people are more hostile against anything that would hinder progress because it already takes so fucking long for any progress to happen (because the pacing in this manga is honestly kind of garbage).

I see...I come at it from the point of view that while it's coming out serially now, in the future it will of course already have been written and we should be evaluating the full product.

Otherwise, it's like looking at a building under construction and saying, "what a stupid building design--all the girders are exposed and there's no roof."

Sometimes I read manga that were completed years ago, and really enjoy the flow--then check out comments where people are trashing the pacing and saying "I don't even remember who these characters are" and so on. But reading it straight through, there are no problems at all and everything is perfectly understandable. So, I think that the stories are designed for how they'll be not for the short period they are being published, but for the infinite eternity afterwards where they can be enjoyed as a continuous experience.

Oh... So I was right, no competition or (love?) rivalry, she's just a producer.
