It's set in the current time it's being released, 2020's. They're just western music enthusiasts who listen to older and newer songs. Of all the songs they name dropped in the series there's been a few older ones from the 80's and 70's- 1986 Bon Jovi "you give love a bad name," 1981 Joan Jett "I love Rock n Roll," 1981 The Clash "Should I Stay or Should I go," 1970 Black Sabbath "Paranoid."
