Joe has a store, a life, and friend here. He has nothing in LA. Likewise Mitsuki has her life here and a budding romance. And Kana wants to yank that all away.

And I hope that the author isn't going with something absurd like both of these adults have never had any other romantic interests in the years in between.

Seems so but then it would be odd he broke up with Kanna because he couldn't leave Mitsuki behind.

If he is her main guardian then...she'd obviously not be left behind and would just have gone to LA with them.

Realy wonder if the actual parents...arent great people and thus why he feels he needed to stay for Mitsuki's sake.

Seems kinda heavy for a series like this to introduce a plotline like that though.

You must not know what thot means, cause that is the complete opposite of what a thot would do. If anything, trying to lure Joe back with her after all these years is a display of loyalty, which is something thots don't have

Whoa...easy. Just my own thoughts no need to be rude.

Chapters are only a couple pages long, hard to fit something like that and do it justice/it just doesnt feel like its something this one would do, imo.

Ehh, weak story, not feeling it. Would be nice to conclude this by asking her uncle to go LA now though, since she's already grown up and has friend (yeah future wife right there) to hang around now.

But yeah this side story is weak, predictable and doesn't really do anything much to the yuri story.

Yeah, even without Mitsuki in the picture (both now and in the past), Kana wanting them to move to LA just makes no sense from a logical standpoint.

Sure, Kana is currently making a living in LA as a stylist, but how many roommates does she have to have to do that? No way she could afford to live by herself (or her and Joe or her, Joe, and Mitsuki).

And what would Joe even do in LA? Open another record store? Even IF he could afford to rent/lease a store in a decent location, there is crazy competition in the market in LA--he would likely be out of business within a year.

Frankly, if she wants to get back together with Joe, she should move back to Japan--she's the one whose life is more easily moved (which she PROVED by moving in the past).

Japanese are much more likely to mix dark with light. I've run into more than a few light comedies that have dark, even really dark stuff happen in them. Also female jealousy tends to run fairly high relative to the West.

It's like with their food manga & anime -- they like to mix contrasting tastes.

Or it's a desire for a bit more reality. Sweet romance mixed with difficulties feels more real vs. an "I wish fantasy" where everything goes right.
