Well it depends on the legend, but tengu’s lifespan can be way longer than a human, so in the end he will be the one letting her behind… I get where he comes from, and that his worries about her is not about her dying, but rather her leaving him to live with someone else, but here he sounds rather selfish, even if there’s a good reason for that.

Ya know, i kinda understand the mc. Not everyone can accept the concept of death and when you're a child, you're capricious. And the fact that he did have to grown up almost alone didn't help him to grown the mentality to not fear to be alone. But yeah, while i can understand him, i can't accept how selfish he is on the moment.
