oh, holy shit. that was brutal. andragoras takes each and every thing arslan has with a few words in rapid succession. daryun was kind of expected, but he made narsus stay, whom he'd kicked out and hates, and also jaswant, whom he knows nothing about...and arslan rides out of the gates with literally no one (besides azrael!! <3 ). expecting farangis, gieve, elam, and alfreed will follow, but even so...wow. that was rough.

Fucking bastard, he loses the war, demoted Daryun when he only tried to give advice, caused the death of thousands of soldiers and now he just strolls back takes the work done by Arslan and his crew, and takes his crew like they are possessions.

It irks me that I thought he was badass when he fled Ecbatana.

This guy has his head so up his ass that he must think even his defeat was just a little setback.

But... I think this will be good for Arslan, in a way I can see that he was a little dependent on his crew, he matured much during this time he is nothing like the scared boy in the beginning, I can confidently say he can do it now.

you are all getting rather excited.you should remember takes his royal duties VERY seriously and that he believed STRONGLY in prophecies.
that's why he agreed to kill his brother and its family as per his late father's foresight.
why he's able to muster so much sttrength and energy to fight and rule.
not only because he's shouldering the lives of every Parsians, but mostly because he's the agent of Fate. And that's a mission he will devote everything to ... even if that means showing a psychotic tough love act to his chosen heir.

@Seihanda Well, yeah. But there is a limit of how much you can push around people. That point doesn't matter as, people around the MC don't know it. All they see now is a tyrant.

What a weird chapter to come back to. I literally stopped reading this way early on when he basically had nothing in the first place... and decided to see where it had gotten to, and come back right to when he has literally nothing again.

That was the same as telling him to die alone in the south. Even among his more recent supporters, they are aware that Andragoras is being unreasonable. Coup d'etat when

Bruh, Andragoras, ruling by fear can only get you so far. A good chunk of the army like and willingly follow Arslan, and somehow, I don’t think unofficially exiling him is gonna make them easy to rein in. Especially if the person they have to follow now is a douchebag father who kicked out his kid. At best, the kings supporters would probably be made up of those who are opposed to Arslan abolishing slavery, the muscleheads who only respect strength, and those zealously loyal to the crown.

Probably Arslan feels nothing as he was never given nothing too by them even if he yearns to finally do receive something, and now he has grown accustomed to warm feelings from his current companions.

More like wanting to exile him, it looks to me that Andragoras wants Arslan dead, after hearing what happened from the Satryup. It could be that he is testing him as he seems to be a somewhat competent king and knowledgeable of court affairs and politics but i doubt it a lot.

@Starbuck it is actually the opposite, as Andragoras despised how much his brother and father believed in prophecies.

My heart hurts but this will certainly change the status quo from being constantly saved by the indomitable Daryun and omniscient Narsus.
I am interested in seeing how my poor sweet boy will manage to recruit more odds and ends from foreign countries.

I can say that even if I believed those two were my parents, there's not much relief I would get from their safety when they have shown zero interest in my own welfare or even that of the people I care about. It's completely reasonable for him to feel so little. I want to give him so many headpats right now. Hnng

Thank you very much for the wonderful translation!

@Abetillo

in his youth, Andragoras didn't understand why his father and elder brother put so much stock into astrology and prophecies

but this changed when he ascended the throne, whether through pragmatism or otherwise.
he's definitely testing Arslan, though there is no certainty that he's not trying to kill him too ... due to the odd genealogy of the Pars royal family.

Given his "I'm the descendent of blah-blah-blah" rant, I'm guessing Andragoras has some subconscious self-confidence issues.
