Not really? I mean it's not like with the death of Demon Lord the other dangers of the world would disappear.
The monsters would remain an issue at the very least.
There's plenty of former hero that ended up as wanderer, inn owner, lazy bum, army general, shopkeeper, farmer, trainer, womanizer, bandit, drunk off his power and become a menace, or even marrying the princess and become king.

Interesting oneshot.
I have a somewhat different and bleaker read of it than others though.
The Demon King was not talking to the hero at all, at least not to the hero "character".
He was talking to us readers.
We read these these stories of great heroes, facing all odds and suffering through their journey, losing their companions, all to finally achieve their aim.
And then we exult at their accomplishment, which thanks to the story we feel as if we'd been part of, but what joy is there to feel in this hollow victory when all that's left after, is for us to return to reality - to our own lives?

“It's like the great stories, Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad has happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing this shadow, even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it'll shine out the clearer. I know now folks in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding on to something. That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for.”
