I'm pretty sure that the whole

meant that father was the coward, and that mom was the one with the pants, meaning the "manly" one (pants not skirt), here in the meaning of "manly" as "courageous".
In other words, that poster didn't mean it was mother's fault, but father, the sentence was just bit unclear if you weren't reading carefully.

I remember just how angry I was when learning about this revelation several years ago from the novel.

Her father, if she really wants to call him that, still enrages me to no end. There's no way there weren't more options out there but he chose the cruelest one for her.

FUUUUCK! What a wonderfully written, but depressing chapter! The rabbit hole is so deep in this. It didnt even occur to me that there another original plan 10 years ago and i hate the father sooo much for sacrificing his own daughter, but i have a hard time despising him, cuz it saved the damn country! Peak manga!
