I find it refreshing tbh, considering most of the time women tend to get shafted in many manga, being just damsels in distress or totally irrelevant.

Can the author stop adding hot evil ladies into the story? Like, there are so many good designs in this story it's unbelievable. I'm excited for the anime adaptation, but I feel it won't do the manga justice because of how good the style of this manga is.

Also, they had us in the first half, not gonna lie.

Thanks for the TL as always!
Randolph is highly competent. But, he's called the guard dog for a reason. He'll sniff out clues with his incredibly sharp instincts, but he's not the leading type. Considering his last name's Ulster, I would not be surprised if his title in-universe is "Hound of Ulster."
Aldous is also highly competent, but he's similarly a follower but of Abigail.
However, men still rule the actual countries.
It's a metaphor for this chapter: just because you sit on the chair doesn't mean you have the capability or actually hold the reins of power.

The manga is superior to the novel, which is still very good but lacks the depth of facial expressions and framing only possible in a visual medium, so I doubt the anime will be as good. It's very rare for an adaptation to be better than the source material, so to be an even more superior adaptation would be even more difficult.

All the political stuff is fascinating and all, but it really makes you feel like the women are the only ones who get anything done lmao.
While the manga focuses on the women, notice that all they do is backroom, secretive dealings usually aimed at other noble women. They have social standing but no real direct power, which is pretty realistic for the setting. Good thing too, as said setting is already rife with anachronisms and contradicions, like the seeming political emancipation and free press, while still being under a system based on feudalism.

Pamela Francis... now there's a character I didn't expect to come back in to the story!
This manga continues to be fascinating.
I love it. I can't get enough!
Thank you so much for the translation!

not really?

they aren't really DOING much of anything, they are establishing connections between relevant parties or being the keystones to plans put in place by "others"

there are like 2 women who were doing anything independently and they are both dead with one being a ghost guiding MC forward and the other gave up and decided to default to establishing connections between relevant parties by killing herself

Poor girl. She's been used again. Oh well, she's probably died after this debacle.

Gotta love the bait-and-switch of the obviously evil prince being replaced by the mama's boy, who seems disturbingly unconcerned about the stupidly powerful organization he's working with. Obviously, they're using him, too, but I'm curious to what end. Maybe they'll just kill him and puppet the other prince themselves

Also, it's the nut from the first chapter who was...danced until she broke (is that a metaphor for assault?). Not sure why she's blaming mc, since she was the one who pursued her fiance and tried to frame her, but like i said, she's a nut.

Smart move using someone who already has an axe to grind to get the job done. There's no way that can get tied back to you
So any bet his mom died because she gets killed by Daez? Also how would they beat the man with 100 faces?

Do you know what chapter is this from the novel?
