To be fair, who else could be? Scarlet knew both the king and her father's characters. She also knew her brother was the only one who ever tried to do something to prove her innocence. If anything, you could argue she didn't want to think about it until it was 100% undeniable in her mind.I like how Scarlet's reaction here in this chapter. She already knew from the very start after that reveal in the previous chapter that the main culprit to her death is her father.
Sadly if Scarlett was alive rn, she'd almost be in her late 20s, so Connie would be more like a little sis to her rather than a friend. As far as friends go, Lily was really really great frenemy for her.Like Scarlett will berate her for being naive young lady, but will protect Connie with her whole life while Connie will try to calm Scarlett's impulsive anger and will always stay by her side because she trusts Scarlett.
The narrative explicitly tells you they weren't really friends. At least, Scarlet never thought of her like that. There is a wonderful extra chapter on the first light novel which really drives this point home, but unfortunately it is exclusive to the novel and hasn't being adapted.Sadly if Scarlett was alive rn, she'd almost be in her late 20s, so Connie would be more like a little sis to her rather than a friend. that's why I called them frenemies, rivals doesn't suit them, allies doesn't as well, but they still look out for each other and believe in each other('s rottenness). I just don't have a word for their relationship, but it's definitely one of the closest ones they had.The narrative explicitly tells you they weren't really friends
I think I just didn't vibe with the "friend" bit from that word hahaha. I do agree on Lily seeing herself as Scarlet's rival, though.that's why I called them frenemies, rivals doesn't suit them, allies doesn't as well, but they still look out for each other and believe in each other('s rottenness). True though Scarlett always claims to have difficulty Remembering exactly what happened leading up to her execution so maybe her dad did tell her And she accepted it but she doesn’t remember. She did act like a true villain at her execution. That could’ve been to sell up her crimes and “justify” her execution so the neighboring kingdom couldn’t claim her to be a martyrI agree that this would probably be the most cutting line Scarlet could give, one of the few things that would truly get through. Not simple selfishness or outrage at being framed or the like, but anger that he'd assume she wouldn't herself shoulder the Castiel responsibility and honor in the end. For all she lived high as nobility, Scarlet hasn't shown herself the kind of woman who'd shirk hard choices or be unable to see the bigger picture. Even if in the depths of the enemy's scheme, I think she'd have marched out to execution at least knowing it was to save her entire country, and that her father and king knew her innocence. Sending her to her death may have been necessary, but denying her that knowledge, doubting her in the end, was a strike at her dignity that was not necessary.
Connie is a great foil for her because Scarlett is the kind of person to never hold back what she thinks about others but will probably always internalize her own hardships. Meanwhile Connie struggles to be assertive but wears her heart on her sleeve, especially for those she cares about.SO I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO THINK THAT WAY 😭
Like Scarlett will berate her for being naive young lady, but will protect Connie with her whole life while Connie will try to calm Scarlett's impulsive anger and will always stay by her side because she trusts Scarlett.
And that quest, is truly too clear. You can imagine how upset player when encountering thatThis chapter make me imagine a game scenario when you are just strolling out of the house to doing nothing but suddenly there is a quest (by random person) coming onto you

Well the kidnapper is not evil to little kids. This is said by his colleague that got the role to do disguise. Thus this is the hole in the plan so farHuh.. Amelia still alive. That's...interesting.
Sucks to be Scarlet, didn't know the reason for her death until post mortem since she only knows about Faris involvement after being a ghost.
Well, where the story will go from here? They are not ready for war, the spies runs freely in the kingdom, the populace and nobles are too zooted with Jackal, and they have a missing prince on their plate that might trigger the war.
I am surprised Faris didn't off the prince and throw his bodies inside the palace already.
So, guess the prince is actually hostage against those refused to get along with the invasion plan?
