Realistically she won't be able to stop thinking about that scumbag for months if not years. Especially since her new life doesn't really have much content. If she had found another job, probably a relaxed one, she might be able to do it, having new, better things to think about. But she hasn't got much going on now, so her brain would return to the past year time after time.
