Even if national law says age of consent is 13, each prefacture or metropolis have their own laws, mostly of them at 18 years old. What does that mean?
- With consent, under 13 years old: its considered statutory rape, no excuses bro xD
- With consent, from 13yo till the age that place considers legal: you can end with your ass in jail or with a fine, but there can be attenuating circumstances such as being in a serious relationship, having the consent of the parents or things like that.
Fun facts in Japan:
- its legal for girls to marry at 16 even when in that region its not legal to have relationships with minors.
- there is no laws similar to the Romeo and Juliet Law, so even if you are close in age or you've been going out since before you turned into an adult, that doesnt make it legal.
- there are places in Japan where relationships with minors arent legal... even if both partners are minors.
- charges against women having relationships with minors are less severe than men having relationships with minors.
