Maybe because Tokan played fewer games so M hasn't had a chance to thoroughly analyze him yet.

That wouldn't make much sense, in chapter 7 we learned that Tokan is the fourth Jansen rank holder with 2403 games played before reaching Jansen status. My guess is that Tokan is also emotionless or that he just has a way to act without emotion.

I THINK I have a theory about how this is going to go.

The reason Tokan won against M so much is what he said to glasses guy, the words and actions he said made glasses guy give him what he needed.

The only way you can do that in online mahjong (unless you have time to text a lot or actually set up a VC which M doesn't do), would be to play tiles and study reactions or play tiles that lead your opponent in the direction you want.

It'd be a more reactionary play style that's a big gamble. But M's style is also reactionary since he wins by reading and waiting for quirks. How can you react when the other guy would also be passive?

And if Tokan just generally gambles on anything he can use as a trap or bait, it's not really a pattern.

If I had to guess for the upcoming match, Tokan is going to give M another tool for irl Mahjong, reading people by tells other than how they play
