To be perfectly honest, I dont think they particularly care how it is done (and whether it is magical or not. They see something threatening their monopoly on "curing".

Agreed, once they do figure out that he's not using magic at all, they'll still want to monopolize his methods. I just don't think they even know what he's really doing yet.
