Yes and no. Yes, they're threatened by the challenge to their monopoly; however, once they fully realize that he's using methods that can cure diseases they can't, they're probably going to shift gears from "assassination" to "kidnapping and interrogating", since they were already trying to figure out how to treat those diseases anyways (I think they called it the "incomplete magic theory" or something in a prior chapter).To be perfectly honest, I dont think they particularly care how it is done (and whether it is magical or not. They see something threatening their monopoly on "curing".
