I don't quite understand why he returned to the school building. I hope it's for the sake of acquiring something from there, not just for the sake of plot. A school might actually have some useful supplies he would know the precise location of, but as a building it's not ideal for dealing with a zombie apocalypse, I'd say.
All in all I'd say I wouldn't like to be in a place like China, India, or any other giant population country when a zombie apocalypse happens. The more people, the more zombies. If you start in the boondocks of a more sparsely populated country, you won't be overcome by an unstoppable horde of zombies. If you are up north, you'd basically have months of zombie-free environment due to the cold winter (zombies would be frozen solid till spring), but on the other hand, after the civilisation has collapsed, the freezing winter of the north can be extremely deadly.
