Ok, now we start leaning on the suspicion of the king wanting to get rid of that knight.

He was too pushy. Even the ace attorney judge could've stopped him multiple times and dragged on the proceedings another hour.

But he really thought it was the hero? Guess he needs to cook up a new plan to accuse the king.

This is less of a public defense and more of a public execution I feel

But I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to prove yourself innocent.

When they brought up the amulets (and that someone apparently didn't use their buffs) my mind instantly went to the mage. I bet the amulet the vanguard got was faulty (probably deliberate) and MC going for the Hero just works in the mage's favor. As to why he did it, I'd wager he did it a) because he just didn't like the vanguard, b) to frame the Hero in order to get with the priestess or c) because the King ordered him to do it.

Not gonna lie, this is starting to feel unnecessarily convoluted. Granted that is this genres bread and butter, but it would be obvious who his next witness should be. Who else had an opportunity to sabotage the pendent, the one who created it.

And when that avenue doesn't pan out, you start questioning the motives of the individuals who sent them.

But even that feels irrelevant because this whole farce comes down to a home invasion, the intent to steal someone else's possessions, the attempted murder of the treasures guardian, and said guardian's justified self defense.

What should now be happening is the defense lawyer closing down this case, and filing their own case against the kingdom for trespassing, attempted murder, and an attempt to defraud the Goddesses Court of Justice, or whatever combination legalese words that that would be.

they could argue that since the Dragon's lvl is so high the hero's party wasnt a threat to her so she used excessive force no? And I dont know if they would say the place she was at was her home since she is forced to be there by magic.

The party had already said that they had well prepared for the fight, and the dragon has already said it was surprised by the sudden death of the vanguard, so I think that argument doesn't pan out. The Dragon had used what it reasonably thought was an appropriate amount of force, and what even the hero party thought was reasonable to come from the dragon (and what they had prepared for).
So I don't think that excessive force argument has any legs.

That ace attorney music kicked in for me when the otherworld hero told the truth. Everyone is guessing the king of doing now, I think its the mage looking guy in the party, probably jealous of the hero and his pussy posse

It sucks that the comparison point many people (myself included) is going to be phoenix wright for specifically japanese law drama. The limitations in hardware meant they had to write some air-tight scripts and pacing. Without that you end up with long statements that have to explain legalese and then present the case, making it all sound so tiring going through the narrative. The dramatic stings too are way too external, and while thats normal in western live-acted crime law dramas, having to read it and not even have a moment to breathe for a monologue really bogs the pacing down knowing its gonna be more legalese to read through to explain the uncertainty in the argument or in the characters.

I really wish the fantasy elements weren't so generic; I could get into this if it were more like the Case Files of Lord El-Melloi and the magic was more along the lines of alchemical contract magic.

The jury has the final say in the ruling. The majority of the kingdoms subjects may believe it’s for the “public good” to have the hero (someone that looks and acts like them) to be better than a “savage and unsocial” destruction dragon in it’s ruling.

Also the payoff are usually more powerful in this type of storytelling.

The MC has already proven that the Dragon's intent was self defense and attempted to use non-lethal force to guard the tresure. He has also shown that the kingdom and heroes party were less then honest when bringing this case to court.

This is a farce through and through. They attacked the dragon out of greed, not concern for their safety. There a plausible conspiracy to use Lord Whatshisnut's death as an excuse to further their false narrative. There might even be a third string to the Kingdom's plan to use the Dragon's enforced appearance in court to make another attempt to steal the treasure.

The only thing the prosecution has shown is that the heroes party, at the behest of the kingdom, intentionally attacked a dragon, in her lair, to aquire the treasure she was guarding. At no point did she attack anyone who heeded her warnings, and has failed so far to prove she is a danger to anyone outside of the cavern to which she is magically bound.

Nah, it's already been proven that her response wasn't thought excessive, by either side. The protections they had should have, if used correctly, protected them from multiple breath attacks.

As the dragon had inhabited the cavern for centuries, it shouldn't matter if it was her home, or just the location she happened to be. They were trespassing on a location she is obligated to guard. Any attempt to remove her or the treasure she is guarding should trigger her ability to use force, excessive or otherwise.
