Yes, this is going to be a daily thing, and it's going up anywhere from 1:45-2PM EST.
I wonder if it's better to write "this has" instead of "this's" cause it's easy to confuse "this's" for a contraction of "this is."

Also idk if it's intentional but you wrote "girls channel" instead of "girl's channel."

Possible. We'd need a non-native English speaker to complain first, since it might just be obvious from context.

It was intentional. But if we're over-thinking the name, wouldn't "Girls' Channel" be the best possessive case? I will admit, the flip flopping on my part between all the cases isn't great, though. Problem is the original name could be any of them and all of them, as far as I know.

1) Count me in amongst the “Girls' Channel” party.
2) OK, when you complained about the previous translation being “ass“, I hadn't expected the difference to be that big…

Certain people think I'm petty. Certain people think I make a big deal out of nothing- yourself included, for a bit. Now you see clearly how far back my complaints go, and how serious they can be. This is why I correct people, and this is what drives me to fix series.

Now look at the difference, and realize that a good chunk of the TL's you read on here do this sort of thing, if not worse, regularly. I won't say "most" because I haven't checked "most", but a solid minority, even the ones that seem coherent, just... make shit up.

Think about it.

I'm in agreement with "Girls' Channel." I only mentioned "Girl's Channel" because that's what you wrote it as in the credits when explaining what it was, so I assumed that maybe you forgot to do it for the actual chapter xD

I've seen several series I've dropped where I'm completely unsure whether the fault lies with the translation or the original. Aishuu Lava is but the most recent example. So yeah, I'm well aware of the dangers. As for the worst example… I'm going to go with the fan-translation for Witch Craft Works; “atrocious” might even be underselling it.

That said… you've mentioned that the most common response to your complaints is that you're told to eat shit. This surprises me, because I've made oodles of corrections to translations here and there, and people have always been very grateful. In fact, the only time I've even been told to eat shit was when I corrected Kirei Cake's translations, which is a thing that makes me go “hmmm”.

PS: Sayles is spared my wrath even though his output is atrocious. The reason: I can't get mad at somebody who admits and apologises from page 1. Speaking of which, if Kakushite! Makina-san strikes your fancy, do consider sending him a few corrections; When I re-translated the first third of chapter 1 for him, he was very grateful, and immediately incorporated my script. I would've continued, but its vocabulary is above the level I can read comfortably, and it hadn't gripped me enough to invest more time.

Two of the worst cases of this were with luigiymario2 (Specifically the Cheeky Gyaru series), and then Sullieman with Chapter 48 of Dorei wo Choukyoushite; the former series I personally took on in its entirety (NSFW and all), and the latter I spot fixed. The former stuck to saltposting about me from time to time, but the latter came in hours after the thread died, took pot shots at me, then when I responded, got me banned.

To boot, in the latter case, he had gone to the forums to outright tell us he "took liberties" with lines, but not to worry, since he's better than those other guys that do bad translations... somehow. I ask him how, and what the line is if he's already willing to "take liberties", as he put it, and he goes off. So any differences between our translations are, at least according to him, intentional deviations from the script. All to insert a stupid meme, and erase two jokes from the chapter.

Oh bless his heart. Nothing softens my heart like a bit of humility. I'll give it a look through. Thanks!

EDIT: Aaand it'd Erotica. I can't do Erotica.

I hate localisers, and I hate bad translators unwilling to learn from their mistakes even more.
