🤓 Fish is a general term for any vertebrate with gills, fins and lives in water. So, within this definition many species reside like shark, lobed-finned fishes, rays ect. So within the loose definition of "Fish" mermaids could be included, assuming they do have gills and not breath under water with some sort of magic.

Cannibalism is the practice of eating one's own species. Judging from the story, Bonito, the species, does not include Mermaids. Therefore, with mermaids and bonitos being different species, it can not be cannibalism.

Now, this argument doesn't exclude or make a judgement on the philosophical implications of eating something you can communicate and "be friends" with.

It's not cannibalism... it's more like if there were other species' that human could communicate with and had similar level of intelligence, able to befriend them, etc, aaand we eat them. Surely that would cause some guilt, eh? Or let us put it this way. Imagine eating your pet dog or cat that's been with you for years. Kinda similar feeling

MinuteEarth has a video entitled "You are a fish" that is tangentially relevant to this.

@XueShu, it's not cannibalism, cannibalism is the act of eating your own specie, so no it's not cannibalism

Well I’m glad it has no Romance. Author is a huge troll!! Sometimes he makes it seem deep, or dramatic or just plain sad over something so trivial that was meant to just be funny lol

I’m pretty sure he doesn’t care haha

@DANDAN_THE_DANDAN Nah, they are clearly different species. It's more like a farm kid getting too close and naming all the pigs in the pen, only the pigs are smart enough to talk back here.
