It's pretty common especially when it's a collaboration type of adaptation between a WN/LN writer and a manga artist (unlike when it's the publisher that adapting it instead of a single artist) because if a problem appear to one of them or between them the adaptation just stops and axed (most of the time the artist can't continue because of medical reasons, second most common reason is the writer having a problem with the artist either making sub par adaptation or tampering with the story too much)Has this happened before? Never heard of someone picking up somebody else's manga. I'm guessing the original author gives them rights to their work.
