i guess this guy is just really mentally strong... if I was in a death game and worked my ass off to completed it to get out only to be shoved in another version of that world again except this time with no hope of getting out i woulda broke down right there and cried looking for ways to kill myself

If we assume he has been fighting (playing) the game for a long time without giving up, perhaps experiencing many setbacks along the way, he would have got pretty steadfast already. In the end, if you were locked in a death game, could you even really trust that after beating it you would absolutely be set free? It's difficult for any of us to imagine it, but rationally a part of him would have been prepared for the possibility that he's stuck there forever. I'd say not getting out but instead getting sent to a real fantasy world would be less of an emotional shock (though it might be a shock for rationality) than simply being stuck in the same game, this time only with no prospect whatsoever for the exit. Like you did beat the game, but the log out button just didn't appear. That would be the really disastrous result. But if it's a real fantasy world, at least you can explore the place, find new things that wouldn't be in a mere game, and, basically, live a life there.
