Its bc most scanners need you to lay things completely flat (unless you have one of those extra fancy ones that do account for the curve of the books spine.) it can be really irritating if what you're scanning has any bumps bc it'll blur the furthest edges. (though the poster did a great job here, i didnt really notice any blurriness
