Yeah I’m pretty sure that’s a straight up mistranslation. That makes no sense in the context of the story (and I've already read past this whole arc in the light novel).

As I said. Gospel is a strong word. There is a lot of decent ideas that go in, but a fundamental conceit that some concepts just don't apply when you are sufficiently edgy.

They're using magic to enhance themselves in a lit rpg game world system. We've gone a ways past normal human abilities and limitations.

When you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves. One for your target, the other for the assassin after your life. Wait, thats not right.

The entire point of the fight was so she could learn how to fight someone at a distance that isn't optimal to her. You can't exactly do that if you fight at your own optimal distance. So her choice was optimal for her. What you seem to be suggesting is akin to bringing a gun to fencing practice. Very efficient for winning, but less so for actually learning anything.

oh i so adore the use of shield like that. I love the way this manga thinks about the kind of magic spells you get in JRPGs, and how someone could use them in a living, adaptable world.

And then uses them to have a teenager watch the life leave a mans eyes. Woo!
