Honestly fuck the MC. I don't even care if he said that inadvertently; he still consciously believes it to be true if it was lingering in his mind to begin with. I just refuse to tolerate anyone who uses "you're plain" when all that really translates to is:

• you're pretty quiet
• you're (likely) a studious person
• you wear glasses
• your hair is black

P.S: went and checked their fanbox and all I can see is R18 for their previous series. They have a post about this oneshot, where they sold it at comita. So it wasn't even published in collab with a magazine.

The thing is, both manga and other japanese media have made the 'plain=boring/bland' kinda thing. I like how when he meant plain, its like saying he likes vanilla, but because of the negative connotations that surround that word, she took it in the wrong way.
