As I understood it she did experience all the previous years but in fast forward by the god, so she remembers everything and should know how to use magic.

Also the Black commander might just have managed to lose his head with this order. Being a healer aside, you never send a lone person on a mission, that is like one of the most basic rules in the military, always buddy system.
