IMO this is shojo with a lot of shonen influences? You just have to look at who it's targeting. Like not nearly enough adult woman concerns and situations to be josei, and way too much people just thinking about feelings for shonen (plus zero physical fights).

Of course both boys and adult women can enjoy shojo even when it's not targeted at them.

With the way things are going, I feel like we're gonna get some sort of confrontation soon. Minato for once in his life is unable to read the situation properly and his feelings are going into overdrive. On the other hand we don't know how Koyuki feels fully about Youta and a lot of misunderstandings are happening on Minato's side. Then there is Mikki, who simultaneously acts as an overprotective mother hen and a potential matchmaker. Youta is just vibing, I think he's gonna be the one to pull Minato out of his own head :thonk:

i like koyuki with youta more than with minato, but tbh i dont want any of them to get together. maybe its all the past drama, but they all feel better as close friends than romantic partners

Yeah, it's definitely a spectrum. I read most categories (even light BL If It's Cute ™️, but not Omegaverse crap), and they've really blurred. There's also shonen like Tsumiki Ogami which is written by a woman so missing a lot of the shonen cliches (though it does have sports matches) and some thinking about feelings (but not too much). And you've got stuff like Nozaki-kun which looks shojo but is entirely dedicated to making (affectionate) fun of shojo, and has no fights but does have hot-blooded manly stuff, so overall slightly more shonen.

So the lack of fights is just one checkbox. And basically, this could run in a shonen magazine, like Polar Opposites, but it's still more shojo to me than anything else? I'm not seeing josei at all, except maybe as a stress relief appetizer from the much heavier Drama there. And Tonikaku Kawaii could totally be shojo with an art change. YMMV, I am not the final judge here!

Shoujo, Josei, or Shounen? Isn't it fine to be none of them? It's serialized by LINE Manga and they don't have a target demographic.

We're entering love polygon territory. Koyun likes Youta. Minato likes Koyun. Mikki likes... nobody.
I don't think we read the same manga. Koyun like Youta as a friend. There's no romantic tendency & purely platonic.

Yeah, I always get confused with these things. I just accepted "shoujo" and shounen" mainly as the type of magazine is published (then after I try to look if there's any "checkbox" to mark)
