Wait, the backstory of the original Seraphione is basically very similar to Ardyn's backstory from FFXV... Maribelle (just like Ardyn's brother) takes all the glory while being regarded as a saint/hero, take away Seraphione's important people (fiance prince and Roux), and condemn Seraphione for being villainous when she's just fulfilling her role (just like Ardyn fulfill his role with a cost).
Gosh, justice for Seraphione!!
I've never played any otome game before, but is it actually common that the non-H otome game main character is a mistress/side-chick that has options to go after capture targets who are already in a relationship/engaged? It appears to be quite the common theme in the otome game/novel isekai 'villainess' mangas though...

By the way,
I feel that Giren will probably be the male lead for this manga,
the word "Flick" on pg20 looks like 'fu*k' with a quick glance lmao (it'd still make sense in that context as an expression),
this manga has pretty good fight drawings and seems like magics and fightings will be quite focused more than romance and I live for it, and
Roux is so cute I want more of it~

@Rayster Of the 4 otome games I have played (I've played a few more dating sims I don't consider otome), none of them have had you be a mistress but to be honest most of them were set in modern day (except for the dystopian bird future one). Commenters on several of the other Villianess Otome manga have stated it is more of a shoujo manga trope rather than one usually present in otome games. In the ones I have played at least, if one of the male love-interests had a fiancee, the fiancee died before the start of the story in most cases. The only villainous rival in the ones I have played was not the guy's fiancee but like the overzealous leader of his fan club, the other 3 games did not have any rivals for the boys attentions.

If you want to try to glean what otome are generally like, the manga on here "Beasts and Princess" and "Wand of Fortune" are based on otome games by Otomate/Idea factory. The Wand of Fortune manga seems to be cute skits featuring the characters rather then retelling the game's story though. Idea factory also made otome series that are popular enough to warrant anime adaptations: Hakuoki, Amnesia, and Diabolik Lovers. I hear the Amnesia anime suffers the obvious problems that come from trying to condense 4+ routes each 8+ hours long into 12 episodes, I do not know if the other ones' anime just follow the canon love interest or show multiple routes. Of the Otomate games specifically, I have only played the first Amnesia game as its remake had a steam release.

Tell him to 'sod off' and to leave you alone. Don't go the braindead path of actually following him or revealing anything to him. Though I suspect she's going to go with the stupid path, because plot or whatever stupid reason the author has decided to create bs drama garbage to the story.

Is he serious? He's a prince of a ANOTHER country and dares to speak to a nobles daughter like that, especially infront of their parents?

Dude, fuck off.

Or she can say in more polite but still pointed terms "I don't know you, and I'm not going anywhere with you. Get away from me."

@welcome2atlantis : original story, her magic would have been known, and she would be the prince's fiance by this point. This timeline she has no magic and is a nobody as far as the rest of the nation is concerned.

@Umbrecola ,
That dystopian bird future game is Hatoful Boyfriend right? lol I've heard about it, it's probably more like a comedy VN with the game structure like an otome game, just like the recent KFC dating sim 😃 I'm more of a JRPG fans so I don't really have much experience in playing dating sim games, that's why I don't really know if mistress MC is a common theme in otome games. Now that I know at least it's actually more of a manga shoujo trope than it's an otome game trope, I feel more relieved because I wouldn't really support a romance that that requires an MC to tear a relationship apart as a side chick, that's just not true romance to me lol. I'd be fine with it if an MC pursue the capture target after the relationship is already broken apart without MC's involvement or the target's partner is dead like the example you mentioned. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check them out! Those adapted animes really are popular, I've noticed them too but I can't seem to get myself invested enough in them after 1 episode. The one that I enjoyed and still remember is Hiiro no Kakera, so I guess it's just that I generally like the ones with fantasy/magic/youkai/comedy settings. I'm currently excited for the anime adaptation of Otome Game no Hametsu Flag 😃

Loving it so far, fast pace and the things the MC does makes plenty of sense. Also there are some good other character moments.

Im interested in the neighboring kingdoms prince, but I would rather she didnt get swept away by him.
Also if magic academy students are enlisted I assume S class adventurers would be too right? so she might not have escaped the war yet.

@lazerus56 : adventurers tend to earn their "murder hobo" nickname, and should be able to easily leave the country in advance of the war on say a "training journey" if they know about it before anyone else does.

Damn is that scaring me. Even though she tried her best to get out of her fate, it’s still going back to her. She didn’t even mean to sign a contract with Roko and that prince is saying the exact same thing as before. Her planning to go to the knight school also makes me nervous because being a knight means having to go to war. Her abilities might be really powerful and that situation with the “heroine” might happen again. I’m so freakin nervous for her.

@Rayster Well, vaguely because you said you liked magic. The other 2 Otome I played were Dandelion and Nameless by the same company as Mystic Messenger, Cheritz (which is Korean). One you date cat and bunny boys from another dimension, the other you date the MC's Crobidoll ball-joint doll collection turned into real boys (Ball-joint dolls actually creep me out) both cases the same wish-granting wizard did it.

Actually played these games with my friend, and we riffed on them until we got attached to the boy of the routes we played. It was actually pretty fun. My friend was amused by Yuri in Nameless calling the MC "My Honey" all the time. We didn't finish Dandelion after we experienced the game's latency issues with saves, which meant you couldn't make a save before the routes branched if you wanted to skip the opening dialogue then continue through different routes from the same save as it thought they were all the same route as the first one you you completed from that split. The store page didn't have a warning about the issue Dandelion had. The game was made in Ren'Py and my friend who knows Python said it should have been something they should have been about to patch easily and they had known about the issue for over a year at that point but did not fixed it which made us more upset. We mainly stopped because it meant we had to completely replay the second route we played from a brand new save as it didn't recognize that route as being beaten, 9+ hours down the drain along with our souls crushed. The + next to the 9 hours is to account for all the time we spent save scumming when the wrong boy talked to use when leveling our stats. That issue also caused all like 90 of the stickers we collected in the second route to unlock the concept art of that boy in game to not count, and we were pissed. We liked the game, just never got around to replaying that route. At least you have a warning if you decide to play Dandelion, unlike us.

I am also excited for Otome Game no Hametsu Flag's anime adaptation

@Umbrecola , wow game companies really try to be creative in that way lol, but I guess it's not exactly new in gaming world. Dolls creep me out too. =.=lll

Oh that sounds quite frustrating and ruining the experience of player... Thanks for sharing and the heads-up, I'll keep in mind if I ever play Dandelion! :D
