Food supplies might be a bit different compared to mongols.

Mongol horses were of a type that could literally survive on barely anything similar to grass, thus not requiring much forage.
But the mongols themselves were pretty reliant on horse milk & cheese if i'm not wrong, and could sometimes even bleed the horses a little to get blood for more.

Depending on the settings, centaurs can be anything from extreme herbivores to extreme carnivore, so there's no real way of being sure which one they'll be.

The princess put a slave collar on the leader of the centaurs which is strong enough to make him work like a normal steed for her, capture children to raise as common beasts and parade them through town on a rope, and kill his own family on command, but it still isn't enough to make him take her and her soldiers to the centaur village? After boasting about the power of the slave collar so much, it's actually incapable of making the centaur take her to the village while a little bracelet is the perfect and infallible magical guide that the princess knows about and trusts without doubt?

I get it's a magical fantasy world but this isn't magical-world-different-logic, this is just bullshit. This is centre-of-the-galaxy-black-hole-scale plot hole. Why do so many authors fail on such simple concepts, which they themselves wrote into the story? Is the author stupid or just lazy?
