In the chapter Mary Sue receives her blessings 3 different Gods give them, one each, and Being X refers to itself as "one of the Gods". We also knew multiple worlds existed since Tanya is clearly in a paralel world and the Gods have always shown to be in a third.

I imagine faith is the gods way of sucking energy from souls and humans are the vessels they created to trap lesser souls so they can suck out their energy through faith. The souls would do just find in the immaterium without intervention, but the "gods" would not be able to garner power and control.

perhaps Tanya needs to organize 10,000 dedicated mages and have them intentionally focus on reincarnating into a single newborn in a mass suicide ritual.
