I had to deal with bullies and with gangs of bullies rather a lot, in schools in various districts and in various states. Yet there was nothing like the degree of bullying shown in manga, in manhua, and in manhwa. While I certainly wouldn't claim that no school in my country has bullies like these, it was far from being as pervasive as in these stories. I wonder whether the mangaka just exaggerate, or Asia has some astonishing level of bullying.

I believe some very high levels of bullying exist, especially in a place where complaining or telling others about it its seen as shameful and bothersome

No the bullying situation is actually pretty bad in general. A lot of the more horrible stories go untold truthfully you want an example of how bad it can be look up the story behind the glory while the show was dramatized the actual bullying that happened in the show actually happened.
